What do you want in a young adult ministry?

Well it has now been a few weeks since the first reformatted meeting of Generation Engaged, and we now would like to know what you want in a young adult ministry. Yes, this is a little backwards but better late then never.

For those of you who have joined us already, first thanks, secondly to everyone who is thinking about coming or has been apart of any young adult ministry anywhere, "What would you like to see happen in a young adult ministry?"

The reason we ask is because this is your ministry. Our gathering is not intended to be a one man show, or a personal preaching lesson for anyone. Rather, it is intended to be a forum for young adults, and others, to engage in conversation and ask difficult questions concerning belief in Christ, God, the Scriptures, and consequently what this belief means for life.

Our hope is that this blog will help facilitate our developing conversation, but it is dependent upon you being apart of the community. Since the ministry reigns are not per se in any individual's hands, the life of this ministry is dependent upon us as a whole coming together to ask questions and charitably enter into difficult discussions with each other.

So here it is, your chance to help us understand what it is that you are looking for in the ministry. Now keep in mind we cannot accommodate to everyones personal preferences our community is a slice of the community of faith, which operates in self-sacrificing love towards other members of the church; therefore, don't look for a ministry that is tailored to your individual tastes, you will never find it anyways. Instead, be committed to the ministry because our Lord Jesus Christ has commanded us to be faithful to his body, so, even though some things will not be reflective of your personal commitments, be faithful to Christ and subsequently to engaging us and each other through the rough spots.

This being the first post we know that there is not a prolific amount of information for you to engage in critiquing and for recommending different approaches, but nevertheless we want your insights on the ministry. Currently our layout looks like this:

Our meeting is at 3PM on Sundays at the Bridge, which is our ministries church.

For the first hour or so we get together and discuss themes related to Christ and life, this aspect is intended to be primarily driven by you asking questions and providing insights or thoughts on the questions raised. Currently we are discussing the relation between Christ's life and death and there implication for our lives.

After this first hour, we head down to Panera to get some coffee, chat about life, and get to know each other. This is where we hope that a greater depth of fellowship and community will be generated as we engaged each others lives, problems, and prayers.
